Thermoplastic round bars (Engineering plastic round bars)
Thermoplastic round bars are elongated, straight products with a circular, solid cross-section over the entire length. As the name suggests, they are made of thermoplastics and have the characteristic properties of the latter: ability for reversible plastic deformation and good processability (thermoplastics are the only type of plastic that can be welded).
They are therefore ideal as construction material for an extremely wide range of uses, including in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, medical technology, and the food industry.
Thermoplastics - from which thermoplastic round bars are made - are produced in three basic processes from distilled and further converted crude oil: polymerization, polycondensation and polyaddition. They are initially produced mostly on an industrial scale in granulate or powder form. The next step is for further processing using one of the processes injection molding, transfer molding, pressing, extrusion, and calendering. Production processes for thermoplastic round bars are usually extrusion and casting.
Thermoplastic round bars can be used in a wide variety of applications. They are used in vehicle construction, in mechanical and plant engineering, as functional components in medical equipment, in the food industry, and as high-performance functional components in many technical sectors.
